Scoil Mhuire na mBuachaillí recaptured the 2015 Frank Mc Ginn Cup for Gaelic football’s blue riband event in Primary Schools in County Monaghan.In a hugely entertaining contest they overcame a massive challenge from the Boys School in Monaghan after extra time on a scoreline of 1-9 to 0-9.This game ebbed and flowed and could have gone either way in normal time with both teams hitting the woodwork to the groans and cheers of excited parents, pupils and teachers from both of the town schools.
In extra time the Blayney side grabbed control and managed to hold on for a three point victory.Thomas Hughes captain received the cup from Cumann na mBunscol secretary Jimmy Lacey.Thomas thanked all the players for their effort, the referee , Master Mc Eneaney and all the teachers and parents who had come along to support the team.He called for the customary three cheers for a courageous Monaghan boys school team and then raised the cup to the delight of the Blayney boys school followers.
