Daithí Lynch from 2nd class has brought great honour to himself, his family and Scoil Mhuire na mBuachaillí Castlelayney with his Science project being shortlisted in the National Competition run by NUI Galway. Although Daithi is only in 2nd second class and was up against students from all classes, his entry was picked out by the National organisers to make a shortlist of 15. This is a tremendous achievement from Daithí and we are very proud of his efforts and making the final shortlist. Please see below for details and a link to Daithi’s presentation.
ReelLIFE Science Project excerpt.
“Id like to thank everyone for the wonderful videos we received from hundreds of young science communicators from all over the country for ReelLIFE SCIENCE @ HOME. Our team have commented that the standard has never been higher, and we know that this is due in no small part to the huge efforts behind the scenes from parents, siblings, teachers, youth workers and friends, so we’d like to thank you too for being ‘ReelLIFE SCIENtists’!
Since the competition closed on May 29th, our team of 40 NUI Galway scientists and science students have watched all 133 videos, representing 80 schools and youth groups in 23 counties, North and South. Each video was judged for its scientific content, production and x-factor, and a shortlist of 15 videos was compiled”
